ShapeCut is made by SilentPixel. It finds your face shape and suggests haircuts and beard styles, entirely on your phone.
In short
We collect no personal data. Nothing about your face, your photos or your results leaves your phone, unless you share a style as a picture yourself. ShapeCut has no account, no analytics, no ads and no crash reporting, and on Android it does not even have permission to use the internet. It works in airplane mode.

What the app does on your phone
- The camera. During a scan the app reads the front camera’s picture in the phone’s memory to find your face and measure its proportions. No picture is saved, and the camera is off once the scan is done.
- A photo you choose. If you use a photo instead, you pick it in your phone’s own photo picker, which gives the app that one photo and no access to the rest. It is read in memory and not kept; the temporary copy the picker makes is deleted.
- Your face’s measurements. The proportions measured from the scan or photo are used to show your result and rank the styles, and are discarded when you leave the result. They are never saved, not even when you save a result.
- Sharing a style, only if you choose to. On a style’s full-screen view you can tap Share as image. The app makes a picture of exactly what that screen shows (the style, what to ask your barber for, its drawings, and your proportions in words only if you turn that on) and hands it to the app you pick in your phone’s share menu. ShapeCut itself sends nothing: what happens to the picture next is up to the app you chose. ShapeCut deletes its own copy when the share menu closes; on Android the copy the share menu keeps for the receiving app is deleted the next time you share or open ShapeCut.
What the app keeps, and only if you save it
- A saved result: the closest face shape and how closely it fits (when a shape fits), the date, and which way your styles should go (for example "more height on top"), so the styles can be ranked again later. These directions are rounded, and no measurement of your face can be worked out from them.
- Favourite styles: which styles you marked, and when.
They are stored only on your phone, and are left out of your phone’s backups and of moving to a new phone. Delete all data on the home screen removes everything the app keeps, and uninstalling the app does too.
What the app does not do
- It does not send anything to us or to anyone else. There is no network code in the app. The only way anything leaves the app is a picture you share yourself, to an app you pick.
- It does not use analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting services.
- It does not ask for your name, email or any account.
- It asks for one permission: the camera, for the scan. Choosing a photo needs no permission.
Buying the app
ShapeCut is paid for once, in the App Store or on Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details, and the app does not contact us.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing of yours for us to show, correct or delete: everything the app keeps is on your phone, under your control. You can still write to us with any question. If you are in the European Union you also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If a new version of ShapeCut handles data differently, this policy is updated before that version is released, and the date at the top changes.
