This statement explains what personal data SilentPixel handles, why, and what you can ask of us. It covers this website, email and calls with us, and the businesses we work for. Each of our apps has its own privacy policy, shown in the app and in its store listing.
In short
This website collects nothing about you. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, shows no ads and embeds nothing from other companies. The enquiry form on the contact page sends nothing: it writes an email in your own mail app, and you decide whether to send it.
We only hold personal data you give us yourself, by writing to us or working with us, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.
Who we are

For anything about your personal data, write to privacy@silentpixel.net. We are a two-person studio, and one of the two founders reads and answers every message.
When you visit this website
The site is hosted by Vercel, which delivers each page from the part of its network nearest to you: for visitors in Europe, from servers in Europe. To do so, Vercel’s servers receive what every web server receives: your IP address, the page you asked for, and the browser and device you use. Vercel uses this to send you the page and to protect the site against abuse, and keeps it in its logs for a limited time. We do not use it to identify or follow you.
Our reason (lawful basis) is our legitimate interest in running a website that works and is safe.
When you email us
If you write to us, including through the enquiry form, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you and, if you want to work with us, to prepare a proposal.
Your email is held by Migadu, a Swiss email provider with servers in France, which processes it for us under a data processing agreement.
Our reason is to take the steps you asked for before a possible agreement, and our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us. Correspondence that does not lead to work is deleted within two years of the last message.
When we work together
For the businesses we work for, we keep the contact details of the people we deal with, the agreement, our correspondence, and the invoices and payments. We need these to carry out the agreement, and Dutch tax law requires us to keep our accounting records, invoices included, for seven years.
We keep our books in Marnu, the accounting software we make ourselves. Its data is stored with Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany, and the app’s server code runs on Vercel in Frankfurt too. Payments go through our bank.
If we build or run software for you that handles personal data, we process that data on your behalf, and you are its controller. We agree on how in a separate data processing agreement before we start (article 17 of our terms and conditions).
Who else handles your data
Only the companies named above, each for the part described there. Vercel, Migadu and Supabase process it for us under a data processing agreement, and only on our instructions.
| Company | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosting this website and Marnu | United States company; Marnu’s server code in Frankfurt, pages served from the nearest location |
| Migadu | Our email on silentpixel.net | Switzerland, servers in France |
| Supabase | Marnu’s database, for our books | Frankfurt, Germany |
| Our bank | Payments | The Netherlands |
We share personal data with others only when the law obliges us to, for example with the tax authority.
Outside the European Economic Area. Switzerland has an adequacy decision from the European Commission, so data held by Migadu is protected to the same standard. Vercel is an American company, so data it holds may be reached from or processed in the United States. Vercel relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses for that.
How long we keep it
As long as we need it for the purpose it was given for, and no longer than the periods above: correspondence that does not lead to work within two years, accounting records for the seven years the law requires. Website logs are kept by Vercel for a short period under its own limits.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit what we do with it, or to give it to you or another company in a common format. Where we rely on our legitimate interest, you can object. Write to privacy@silentpixel.net; we answer within one month, and we may ask you to confirm who you are first.
Some data we cannot delete while the law requires us to keep it, such as invoices. We will tell you if that is the case.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Security
Only the two of us have access to the accounts that hold your data. Data between your browser and this site is always encrypted (HTTPS).
No automated decisions
We make no decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not build profiles of the people who visit this site or write to us.
Changes
When this statement changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change matters for an agreement we have with you, we tell you directly.
